Halloween Pumpkins
Hand Painted Pumpkin Faces
Each pumpkin is hand washed and dried, to insure the paint adheres to the surfaces. They are then individually hand painted, using acrylic paint, so that each one is unique. They are then sprayed with a clear coat to protect the paint from being washed off in the rain. I purchase the pumpkins locally, from Kurtzhals' Farms and Trentwood Farms, in bulk.
I sell these pumpkins at my home, starting the last weekend in September through the end of October. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 6pm. They can also be purchased at D&L Landscaping in Taylor.
I started painting pumpkins in the 70's, as a kid, because I was not a fan of carving them. Once they have been carved, they start to dry out or rot within a couple of day, but painted pumpkins last for a month or more. Once I got out of the Military and my kids began to take pumpkins to their schools, I started to get more and more request for them. In the 90's I decided to setup a stand and sell them. Over the last ten years, I've averaged about 600 pumpkins each season. Since I retired in 2020 that has increase to 1200 pumpkins in 2021.
